Andros is the premier destination spot to stalk the 'big bonefish'. The island's vast shallow flats are the largest in the world, and they hold all three of the flats angler's dream species — bonefish, tarpon and permit.
Bonefish — the 'ghost of the flats' — are catch-and-release only: elusive silver rockets that test your skill. Tarpon, the silver kings, are massive acrobatic fighters that provide heart-pounding action. And permit are the ultimate challenge — the holy grail of flats fishing, notoriously difficult to hook.
The Big 3 don't stay in one place, so AOA's fishing locations change with the tides. Main fishing areas are found within the interior North, Middle and South Bights of Andros, with boat rides ranging from 15 to 45 minutes depending on where you're heading.
First-time anglers are welcome — no experience is necessary, and Captain Shawn will teach you everything. Serious anglers get a guide who understands advanced techniques. Every charter is limited to a maximum of 2 anglers per boat for personalized attention, and fishing is 100% catch and release.
